Artbash is the annual year-end exhibition and event of the work by students completing their first year at SAIC in the Department of Contemporary Practices (CP). This year, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Artbash 2020 has migrated to the internet: Artbash.party.
Within days of learning that the school was moving to remote learning, CP students, faculty and staff did what CP does best: respond creatively to the world. With the support of CP faculty, students immediately began re-designing, re-making and re-thinking their work for this year's exhibition, which reshapes all of our usual Artbash programming in a way to include installations, performance, film and video, book arts, and 48.24.12: a team film competition.
Special thanks to our faculty who worked tirelessly with our amazing students to transform their work from the physical to the digital: Artbash Coordinator, Sarah Belknap; web design/development and digital consulting, Nick Briz; digital instruction and support Tom Burtonwood; and event leads Joseph Belknap, Christine Shallenberg, Hương Ngo and Kitty Huffman.
And thank you to all of CP faculty, students and staff for responding to this crisis with innovation, flexibility and care.
